A total of 336 cadets complete rigorous military & academic training

The National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, Maharashtra, witnessed a landmark moment, as 17 female cadets graduated for the first time in the Academy’s history. They were among 336 cadets who passed out as part of the 148th Course – Spring Term 2025, during a ceremonial Passing Out Parade (POP) held at the iconic Khetarpal Parade Ground.

The event, attended by 1,341 cadets in total, was reviewed by General (Dr) VK Singh (Retd), Governor of Mizoram, who graced the occasion as the Reviewing Officer. The parade was a culmination of the cadets’ intensive military and academic training and was marked by an impressive display of precision, discipline, and bearing.

Commanding the parade was Academy Cadet Captain Udayveer Singh Negi of ‘G’ Squadron, under the guidance of Adjutant Lt Col Praveen Kumar Tiwari, who led the proceedings astride his horse, Reliant Robin.

The Reviewing Officer presented the following honours:

President’s Gold Medal to Battalion Cadet Adjutant Prince Raj

President’s Silver Medal to Academy Cadet Captain Udayveer Singh Negi

President’s Bronze Medal to Battalion Cadet Captain Tejas Bhatt

The prestigious Chiefs of Staff Banner was awarded to the Golf Squadron for overall excellence.

The celebrations concluded with a majestic flypast that featured flag-trooping Chetak helicopters, Super Dimona motorised gliders, and the Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft, symbolising the cadets’ readiness to join the ranks of the Armed Forces.

The occasion drew a large and diverse audience comprising proud families, dignitaries, school children, civilians, and both serving and retired personnel from the Armed Forces.

The Spring Term 2025 POP holds profound significance in the NDA’s legacy as it not only celebrated the commissioning of future military leaders but also marked a transformative milestone—the successful graduation of the Academy’s first batch of female cadets, setting a new precedent in the journey toward greater inclusion and nation-building.
