Army Chief reviews security in Kashmir

General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), conducted a comprehensive review of the security preparedness in the Kashmir region in anticipation of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025. During his visit, General Dwivedi was briefed on the current operational environment and the evolving strategic dynamics in the Union Territory.

The review included a detailed presentation on the integration of advanced technologies into military operations. These innovations, which encompass smarter surveillance systems and rapid response capabilities, are aimed at bolstering decision-making and strengthening the overall security grid in the sensitive region.

A key focus of the briefing was on the measures being implemented to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the annual Amarnath pilgrimage, which attracts thousands of devotees each year. The Army, in coordination with other security agencies, is actively engaged in ensuring that the pilgrimage remains safe amid ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

General Dwivedi praised the Chinar Corps and all ranks deployed in the Kashmir Valley for their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and stability. He commended their decisive counter-terror operations, as well as their continued efforts toward the development and upliftment of local communities.

The Army Chief’s visit underscores the Indian Army’s readiness to meet emerging security challenges in the region, while also reinforcing its role as a key stakeholder in promoting development and ensuring the well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
