The Indian Navy recently participated in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the United Kingdom’s Carrier Strike Group in the North Arabian Sea. This exercise involved the Indian Navy's INS Tabar, a submarine, and P-8I long-range maritime patrol aircraft, alongside the Royal Navy's aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales and frigate HMS Richmond.
According to a post by the Indian Navy on X, the joint exercise demonstrated the evolving naval partnership between India and the UK. It featured a wide range of advanced operations, including coordinated control of integral helicopters, complex tactical manoeuvres, and anti-submarine warfare operations, along with professional exchanges between officers of both navies.
Such engagements are crucial for fostering interoperability, enhancing mutual understanding, and promoting maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region. They also reflect the commitment of both India and the United Kingdom to uphold a rules-based international order at sea.
The interaction between the Indian Navy and the UK Carrier Strike Group highlights the strengthening of bilateral defence ties and reaffirms both nations’ strategic interest in maintaining peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in critical maritime areas.
